think its time to start posting again...

for a while now i been making a transition from streetwear style to more of a menswear/grown style. a lot of inspiration goes into the things i have been buying such as quality, pieces that can stand the test of time, timeless garments and accessories, items that only get better with age and wear; things like that. with all my researching and shopping, the BKc makes it that much easier to find the types of things i am looking for. based out of Brooklyn, these guys really know what true men style is about. Taking all aspects of style from streetwear, workwear, american/western style, modern style and putting it all into one, such like a circus, hence the name, The Brooklyn Circus. Their blog is an everyday stop for me (along with many others), check em out and support em because theyre getting big. With an online shop, locations in SF, a concept shop in Chicago's Solemates, and of course Brooklyn, there are plenty of ways to check out this growing brand.

havent made any posts in a while and its pretty late, but felt i should still do this thing that pretty much every other blog has, a recap of 09.

in somewhat particular order, 1 being the best and so on...

1. my baby brother, Ethan Gabriel Leyva, being born on Nov. 8th. so dope having a little brother. still excited to come home everyday to see him. he just started to socially smile, which is awsome to see. cant wait to teach him cool shit and dress him up in some dope clothes. :)

2. getting back with Miss Maya. we technically where together all this time, but we actually made it official at the end of summer, it feels good to not fight all the time.

3. started my right sleeve. been searching for an artist since 08, but havent really found someone that i was really confident in too do my sleeves, then somehow i found out about state of grace, i dont even remember how i did, but once i saw the artist their, Horiyuki being my artist, i know that i wanted to get it from her. thanks Jill!!!

4. finally went back to Hawaii after like 10 years. it was super fun. it was a change to go with my mom and dave, since i always go with pops and granny helen, but it was a nice change and super fun!!!

5. turned 21. adult time, but still forever young. tiem to get my life together though.

im probably forgetting a lot of things, but ill get back if i think of any. got the most important ones down though.

so this past week has been a good one. first of all i got hella hours at work, which is good since the hawaii trip is coming up and the holidays. more importantly though, which will probably the highlight for a long time, is that my dad and linda, had a beautiful baby boy, Ethan, born 11/8 at around 2:15. i had been calling my brother and grandma for info all weekend since linda was suppose to have him on friday. finally on sunday during my break at work i had gotten info that he was born. i was very happy and excited, i couldnt even work. i got off at 4 and rushed over to the hospital. it was like waiting to get on a roller coaster, i wanted to see him so badly. the lame part was that i had to keep going up and down the hospital building because the family kept on asking me, my brother and my cousin to get stuff from the car, plus linda was feeding him so we had no business in the room haha. finally after a little while i got to go in the room and see my very first little brother. its a weird feeling to right away love someone that ive just met, especially since they had just came into the world about 2 hours prior to me meeting him. ive had little cousins, but never a baby brother, or a little nephew that i felt i had to take care and be responsible for. at first i was kind of skeptical on having a little brother, i didnt know what to expect or feel. but now that he is here im thankful for having him and cant wait to start teaching him things. looking forward to it.

so dope, its things like this that really make me want to be a better artist. the detail the participation of the artist on these shoes are incredible. Williams actually had everything to do with the design and coloring of the canvas upper of the shoe, and i mean everything!!!! so dope.

HUF will always be my go to brand no matter what. i mean, an SF based brand that just puts out such clean products, why wouldnt they be my favorite brand? the thing that really gets me though about HUF is that every single season they just get better and better with the cut and sew/clothing pieces. tees and hat releases are dope also. they have another Stag Story tee for this second f/w drop, which is always my thing to have beautiful girls on my tees, they killed it a a couple summers ago with their first release of the Stag Story Girls. another thing that really has me excited is that they are releasing a chambray also! ive been waiting for Self Edge to restock on the Flat Head Chambrays in my size, but i might have to gather up some more cash to cop the HUF chambray as well!!!! check out more pics of the f/w drop here. releasing today.

ive been getting into J. Crew mens clothing a lot recently, i just really like the grown up type of look to it, since i am getting older, i feel like dressing not so much like a kid and more like a man, and J. Crew mens is definitely a step forward of doing so. there pieces are really clean from the essentials of everyday, i.e. oxfords, chinos, denim, to the things you need for a special occasion. really looking forward to the s/s line, though im still trying to get all my essentials for winter. :P

i am not feelin it right now. usually i am into at least half of my classes, but this semester for whatever reason i am not concentrating at all. right now im too into getting tattooed and clothes, which isnt bad, but i find myself starting a paper, and 3 hours later, 2 and a half of those hours are spent browsing clothing sites. i hope i can get back on track, i hated never being able to get a 3.0 in HS, now that i have it i need to maintain it!!!!!

its always dope when two sick brands come together and do a collaboration, especially brands as different as these. the tees are dope, but IMO the jeans are kind of pointless, no hate intended. i just think its gong to be the same pair of new standards just with "fuck em!" on the back for probably $100 more... although i do applaud APC and Supreme for them being able to sell these, probably in the first hour or so to kids that 1) probably dont skate (supreme), and 2) dont know anything else about APC other than their jeans.

last thursday i got the chance to finally see the Lord of the Samurai exhibit at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum. While i was there, my tattoo artist Jill Bonny "Horiyuki" and Horitaka gave an awsome lecture on japanese tattoo art and how it relates to the samurai, i really enjoyed it. i also snapped a few shots of the show, though not very good, but you can see a whole slide show here. there are many pros and cons of the fall semester, mostly good in my opinion. i always like the fall semester a lot more than spring semester, the spring always goes by really slow, with the only thing to look forward to is summer. the bad things about fall is ill be spending a shit load of money from now till january. there are 1. books, which actually cost more than my tuition, 2. tuition, 3. christmas gifts, 4. money since im going to hawaii for thanksgiving, 5. f/w season of clothing and shoe company, i always like f/w better thank s/s, 6. and of course tattoo appointments. the good thing is that numbers 3-6 are going to be good outcomes, people will be happy because everyone likes to get gifts right? and also ill be happy with my family in HI, happy with clothes because i really havent bought anything in a while, and im always happy to get tatted. so basically im going to be working working working to maintain all the expenses that is needed. read, set, go!

... and it feels like i havent even gotten to enjoy summer! kinda excited, kinda bummed. not really ready to start waking up early, paying for books and classes, and not ready for science class (since i sucked at science in hs, and the last time i took a science class was in like in the 10th grade)!!!! what i am ready for, is art classes, since i didnt take any last semester, having thursdays all to myself (no school or work! woopie), seeing hella people at school, and the holidays!

i think im ready though. i just had 2 real nice days off from work and school. the weather was nice, got to see the city, spent time with the family, and the best part, spent the whole time with miss maya. we got to eat dinner with my grandma, dad, and linda, dads girlfriend, at this korean bbq place. it was really good, at least i thought it was, pops didnt think it was all that, granny did though haha. it was pretty sick since we got to cook our own meat, i know there are billions of korean bbq spots like that, but its always fun to go to places like that for a change. next up on the list though is moonstar with The Team (we need to get a new name), we been trying to go this whole summer, last time we went was like midterms of spring semester... weakkkkk. hopefully we can go before school starts, i dont think so though, fuck.

man, been busy with school and work for the past few days. summer school has been pretty fast pace, only second week and we have a midterm on fri, ive never done this amount of reading so fast in my life! haha anyways, just been taking wdywt pics for the past few days. on Sat i had another tattoo session at State of Grace in San Jose with Jill, btw if you want to get some traditional japanese tattoos, this is where you want to go. ill probably have pics up when the piece is finished, which wont be for a while, maybe ill take some soon though. it was pretty dope because when i was getting the tat done, there was also a festival since the shop is located in Japan-town. i went through some weird ass weather that day too. in the morning i got my oil changed and it was super cold, later i got to San Jose and it was pretty hot, but for some reason it sprinkled a little bit. after i got out i took 280 hot (i usually take 101) and at one point on the freeway it super super hard for like 2 minutes and then it just stopped and got clear. really weird.

so i was looking on maestroknows.com and found this video in the blog section (btw if you haven't been on or seen any episodes of Maestro Knows check it out, its pretty sick). the designer of the new 2010 ford taurus was inspired by Anthony Hamilton's singing. thats such a great honor to be able to inspire someone's design, big ups to him. i hope one day i can inspire someone to do something positive like this.

got my classes for Fall a couple weeks ago, pretty crazy. taking my last english class, thank good, i hate english, although i been doing a lot better and even got an A last semester, thats never been done in isaiah history so you know i was hella happy about that, o ya back to the schedule haha. so im taking english, modern art history, geography, geography lab, and biology for a total of 14 units damn i havent taken a science in like 4 years, i honestly think its going to be tough cuz i use to have trouble in science classes. theres just to many scientific words that i never understand and feel dumb cuz i dont know what they mean. school has been getting better for me though since high school so hopefully ill be able to get through it. so those are my classes, and the crazy part isnt my classes, its the class times...

mondays are from 9:30-5 no breaks and wednesday are from 9:30-9:30!!!! and ya, i do have a 4 hour break, but a lot of that time is going to be dedicated to hw. well hope everything will be okay, we'll just have to see. im really just more worried about the science classed more than the times.

So todays plans got changed a little bit. was suppose to go to school at 10, get off around 12:45, go home, wash the car (cuz i fell asleep yesterday), clean the room, maybe take a nap, eat lunch, do some hw, then go to work at 4, get off at 9:30, then come home and sleep. Butttt it didnt end up that way.

so, went to school at 10, got a call from work at around 11:30 or so asking if u could come in from 2-7 inseat of 4-9:30 so i can do stock, so i thought why not? ill get off early and have a good hw time after... i was wrong. rushed home after class and got there at about 1, so i had a little bit of time to eat and change. got to work at 2 and started to open boxes of nothing but some weak youth sized shoes, that led me to making room on the sales floor wall for them, then went back to the stock room and started to make room on the shelves, that led to rearranging the kids section, which led to reorganizing by size cuz they get messed up over a little bit of time, which let me to working a 2-9:30 shift. so, im stuck doing hw last minute before i go to sleep. im not that stressed about it though, the good thing is i got a couple more hours, bad thing, well not bad, but the not so good part is getting a little less sleep.

i kind of been feeling like all i been doing is work and school, even though ive been getting some pretty good days. i feel like i have been requesting a lot of days off, which i hate doing, cuz if i request too many that means i work less days, which means my SPH (sales per hour) can either do 2 things, look great if i get busy days, or look really really bad if i get slow days because they get averaged between hours and weekly sales... i really just want to start taking my major classes so ill be doing things that i like during the day instead of stupid GE classes, then working with customers wont be as bad. well, i guess the only thing i can do for now is hurry up and wait.

YES! i remember when these Garnetts came out when i was like in 5th grade and he was on the Timberwolves rockin #21. this 8th grader had them and i was hella jealous, but he had the wht/navy pair, so i wasnt that jealous haha. for sure these are the sickest ones out of all the other colorways with the fading sky blue and the black that makes it pop. for some reason though a lot of people are hattin on em, some rookies in the game i guess. its funny how all these little ass kids hate on the super ill classics like the neon uptempos that recently got re-released and these. o well, whatever makes it easier to get my pair if fine with me.

coming out with the name Nike Air III, instead of Garnett III, guess they had to change it up since he's with Adidas now.

Today was the first day of summer school in the day time, started night summer school a couple weeks ago. Im taking Asian American History int he mornings from 10-12:45 mon-fri, and Asian American Issues through film mon, wed, thurs nights from 6-8:30. this mornings class was ok, the teacher seems pretty cool, she talks hella fast but she's pretty clear about what she says so its all good. Of course nothing but asian kids, for some reason a lot of them were half chinese half vietnamese. its funny how whenever the first day of classes use to be a big thing where i would get nervous and make sure i hade every single piece of material i needed and whatnot, but now its just like another day. i guess since i been going to school all my life its just whatever now, which is a good thing i guess, i hate getting nervous about anything.

now i got like a 6 hour break till my next class so im just at home trying to keep myself busy. still gotta finish my homework for tonight, fuck. i also gotta wash my car and fold clothes from laundry i did like 5 days ago. i hate folding clothes, especially when i do that shit all day at work and have to come home and fold tee shirts, boxers, and some fucking socks i cant find the matches too. dont you hate that?! Anyway, im just chillin on the couch watching Spongebob and bout to crash.

so, so far the day has been pretty boring.

o ya, the Hideout x Livestrong x Footscape Wovens are suppose to be releasing this weekend, super dope with the black horse hair upper, white midsole, and yellow outsole. Footscapes are one of my favorite shoes, guess i gotta add these to the wanted list.

i remember when i first saw some shoes from Gourmet, back when all of their shoes were heavily influenced by Jordan's, i didn't think they were too hot, though a lot of people did. i mean, these joints really looked like Jordan's, and for the money they were hittin for, id much rather just buy some real Jordan's. Anyway, Gourmet has come a long way with their designs such as their L'Clinque, one of my personal favorites. Though some of their shoes still have that Jordan look, they've put their own twist on em and made them look good. It looks like Gourmet is doing it right for the 2010 spring/summer footwear line, though i do think that these shoes would serve a much better purpose and reason to wear during the fall/winter, they're still really dope. looking forward to these super ill red ones.(pics via Hypebeast.com, along with more sneak peaks at Gourmets s/s season)

so, i decided to make a blog. i always thought that blogging, being on forums, using friend finding sites (i.e. facebook and myspace), basically belonging to online communities was stupid, yet i found myself making accounts on them as time went by. man, if i were to meet my 9th or 10th grade self id kick my ass. anyway, i found them to be quite useful and informative, and have learned a lot from them. so basically i just wanted to take anyone willing to read/view through my thoughts, feelings, days, frustrations, ect. and just share what goes on in my mind. everyone's way of thinking is unique in one way or another, i just want to show people how my mind works. have fun.
